The Tri-Cities Airport has announced the selected artists for the 2019 public art opportunities in the terminal. While 17 qualified artists submitted their work, only three were chosen. Richard Kimura, Suzi Vitulli and Dixie Blankenship are all local artists who will provide pieces in a beautiful mix of styles and materials that highlight the bounty of the Tri-Cities region.
“We love providing the opportunity for local artists to showcase their work,” said Buck Taft, Director of Tri-Cities Airport. “The airport is the first thing visitors experience in our region, and the last thing they see when they leave. It’s wonderful to be able to share some of the creativity that makes the Tri-Cities community so unique.” Each artist has a separate wall in the terminal to showcase their pieces. Installations begin mid-January and the artists’ displays will be up through the year. As we wrap up 2018, we give thanks for what we have and reflect upon the work we have done for the betterment of our community.

All attendees should be prepared to be surprised! “National Senior Health and Fitness Day celebrates today’s active older adult. A health fair is the ideal way for us to demonstrate how our community’s residents are stimulated in mind, body and spirit, and are supported by staff in ways that a traditional home setting does not offer,” said Executive Director Earleen Linn. “We look forward to sharing our diverse programming with Tri-City seniors, and having them take part in activities they may not have previously tried.” Kadlec Regional Medical Center is partnering with Kadlec Foundation on a philanthropy effort seeking donor and grant support for equipment in the area’s only level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The recently updated Kadlec NICU has some infant beds that are near end of life and the Foundation is helping to find funding to replace them.
This past month, a donor stepped up in a major way to help. The Beverly J. Jewell Memorial Foundation has awarded a grant in the amount of $50,000 towards medical care for children at Kadlec which will be utilized for the more than $126,000 project. When the project is funded in total, the unit will purchase five new infant beds – three OmniBeds with hoods and two radiant warmers. The beds are necessary in the first 30 days of a preemie’s stay for temperature, humidity and sound control as premature infants are not able to adequately acclimatize to the natural environment. The beds also have monitoring equipment, make patient transfer easier, have an in-bed scale and a specialized mattress; all of which make it easier to access and treat the infant – ultimately making the stay safer and more comfortable for the patient and family. Kadlec and Kadlec Foundation are extremely grateful to The Beverly J. Jewell Memorial Foundation for their support of providing the best care for our area’s tiniest patients. CG Public House in Kennewick will be celebrating 40 years serving Tri-City local restaurant patrons.
Owned by Shirley, Steve and Kyle Simmons, the restaurant was founded in 1979 by Shirley’s parents as Wyatt’s Pancake Corral and was renamed The Country Gentleman in 1984. It was then located near the corner of Hwy 395 and Vista Way in the area then known as Angus Village. Shirley became a partner in 1996 and added off-premise catering that was so successful it outgrew the kitchen. In December of 2006 a new facility was built in Kennewick at 9221 W. Clearwater Ave. The company was rebranded in January 2017 as CG Public House and Catering and remodeled the restaurant to an edgy contemporary style with Beer Falls Lounge as a focal point. An adjacent event center accommodates 200, with the business/catering command center in the west side of the building. The catering side of the business and restaurant service represents the Nordstrom Way- by empowering employees and creating a long-term relationship with customers. CG Public House and Catering believes that great products, like delicious food and quality beverages are important, but superb service is what will make the experience most memorable. The Simmons family strives every day to offer all clients the best cuisine and service they have to offer. An open house celebration will take place on Thursday January 17th from 4pm to 6pm.
